AFC Didsbury beat The Drum
Didsbury arrived for this match knowing that 5 more wins would guarantee them the league. The start was a controlled one with the home team on top but lacking in the final 3rd.
The scoring then opened when Neil Creasey curled a delightful free kick into the top right hand corner from the edge of the box. The reply from The Drum was instant as a floated free kick from 30 yards was mishandled by stand in keeper, Nick Eaves, and bobbled into an empty net.
Didsbury instantly looked to rectify this mistake with a great first touch by Matt Harrison, followed by a fine volley into the bottom corner to make it 2-1 and end a crazy 3 minutes of goals and the first half.
The second half was normal service resumed as Didsbury dominated and carved open their opponents. The third goal for Didsbury came from a near post flick by Harrison from a Didsbury corner. The fourth goal saw Harrison complete his hattrick, finishing off some great link up play between himself and his partner up front, Mike Corbett.
Samuel Richardson got himself on the scoresheet after some tidy feet tore the defence apart and hit a rasping shot which the keeper could only palm into the roof of the net.
The rout was complete when some nice interplay down the right wing, allowed Rushton and Mackie to create space for Corbett to fire past the keeper into the opposite corner from the edge of the box.
