DIDSBURY ONLY MANAGE A DRAW AT HOME TO POYNTON LEGION
AFC Didsbury 2S return from their Christmas break with a 2-2 draw against Poynton Legion.
Didsbury kicked off on the front foot, creating some impressive chances on goal, resulting in a fine poached finish from Chris Kelly. On the back of this, Didsbury generated several more chances, taking a strong hold on the game. However, none were converted, leaving the home side leading 1-0 at half time.
The second half began, bringing forth a much more eventful half. A touchy ref blew for a penalty for the opposition, direct from a corner. The ref seemingly spotted a ghost push from Will Westall, bringing forth a lot of complaints and heckling over the controversial decision. Needless to say, the penalty was converted bringing the game to 1-1.
Didsbury pressed heavily, and took control once more. Many strong runs from Kelly could have had some great possibilities, if not for some very poor offside decisions by the ref. After Poynton gained a corner, a push in the back should have resulted in a standard free kick, but was not to be the case, and the opposition took advantage scoring their second.
A Jack Adcock corner then gave Didsbury's defensive tower, Dave Reynolds, a chance on goal, which was soundly converted, 2-2.
The game then finished with tired legs and and a sour feeling to the game, despite the solid performance.
