NEXT MATCH (Mikey Williams Prem):
Founded in 2010 by their current player/manager, Adam Musson, AFC Didsbury are now entering their fourth season, following what has been a very successful first three years for the club.
In their debut season, AFC Didsbury were crowned champions of the Manchester Amateur Sunday League's 3rd Division (www.masfl.co.uk) winning the league by an impressive 18 points. The margin of this success meant that the club was rewarded with a double promotion up to Division 1.
The clubs second season in 2011/12 saw them achieve back to back titles, winning Division 1 and also reaching the semi-finals of the J A Kennedy Cup. They closed the campaign 5 points clear of second place, having scored an impressive 83 goals and were promoted to the MASFL Premier Division.
In their first season in the premier league, the club finished a very credible 4th place in the league and showed enough promise to believe that they can go better next year.
The aim for the upcoming 2013/14 season is to improve on the league position and to try and win some silverware in the cup competitions.
AFC Didsbury are pleased to announce that they will begin the season at their new home in Didsbury village, following an agreement to share facilities with Burnage Metro Football Club. This will provide the team with improved pitches and also the use of the newly refurbished club house. This coincides with the recent news that the club has achieved FA Charter Standard Adult Club status.
The team will continue to train at the Manchester City, Platt Lane Academy facilities during the upcoming season where they benefit from the excellent guidance of FA qualified coaches.
The club is also delighted to continue the fantastic sponsorship agreement that has been formed with Fosters Fish & Chips and as always are very grateful for all the fantastic support from Gaz, Kath and all the staff at
Fosters Fish& Chips, Didsbury.
Up until now each season has been an improvement on the last. The team has enjoyed success on the pitch and great friendships have been formed off the pitch.
Pre-season training got underway at the beginning of July and the club has welcomed some new faces, as well as sadly saying goodbye to some departing members of the AFC Didsbury family.
As ever, new players are always welcomed and any player wishing to get involved should send their details through to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For now, we look ahead to building on the recent success and ensuring that each player who pulls on the shirt enjoys their football and time with the club - #smilesonfaces #afcd
