NEXT MATCH (J A Kennedy Cup):
Founded in 2010 by player/manager, Adam Musson, we are are now entering our fifth season, following what has been a very successful first four years for the club. The club was awarded FA Charter Standard Adult Club status in 2014.
In our debut season, we were crowned champions of the Manchester Amateur Sunday League's 3rd Division (www.masfl.co.uk) winning the league by an impressive 18 points. The margin of this success meant that the club was rewarded with a double promotion up to Division 1.
In the club's second season in 2011/12 we achieved back to back titles, winning Division 1 and also reaching the semi-finals of the J A Kennedy Cup. We closed the campaign 5 points clear of second place, having scored an impressive 83 goals and gaining promotion to the MASFL Premier Division.
In our first season in the premier league, the club finished a very credible 4th place and then continued to improve last season, finishing 3rd place and reaching the final of the John Old Cup.
The aim for the upcoming 2014/15 season is to continue to improve our performances in the league and make up for the upset of last season's cup final loss by getting our hands on some silverware.
We will continue to play all of our home games in Didsbury village, sharing facilities with Burnage Metro Football Club. The lads were all really pleased to be able to enjoy improved pitches last season and have access to the newly refurbished club house. We are all looking forward to it feeling a lot more like home this season too!
The lads have put a real shift in over the summer and most of them will now be pleased to see the back of the HIIT fitness sessions! Training will now resume at the Manchester City, Platt Lane Academy facilities during the season, where we benefit from the excellent guidance of FA qualified coaches.
The club is also delighted to continue the fantastic sponsorship agreement that has been formed with Fosters Fish & Chips and as always we are all very grateful for the fantastic support from Gaz, Kath and all the staff at Fosters Fish & Chips, Didsbury. However, we have recently learnt that this will be our last season teaming up with Fosters so we are now on the look out for a new sponsor for the 2015/16 season.
Up until now each season has been an improvement on the last. The team has enjoyed success on the pitch and great friendships have been formed off the pitch. The club has welcomed some new faces, as well as sadly saying goodbye to some departing members of the AFC Didsbury family.
As ever, new players are always welcomed and any player wishing to get involved should send their details through to email@example.com.
For now, we look ahead to building on our success and ensuring that each player who pulls on the shirt enjoys their football and time with the club #smilesonfaces #AFCD
