Founded in 2010 by manager, Adam Musson, we are now entering our seventh season, following six very successful seasons for the club. The club was awarded FA Charter Standard Adult Club status in 2014.
The 16/17 season promises to be our most exciting to date as we make our debut in the East Cheshire Sunday Football League (ECSFL) Division 1, following six very successful years in the Manchester Amateur Sunday Football League (MASFL). In addition, 16/17 also marks the first year of our newly formed second team, which will compete in the ECSFL Division 3 in the coming season.

It all began back in 2010 as we were crowned champions of the MASFL 3rd Division, winning the league by an impressive 18 points during our debut season. The margin of this success meant that the club was rewarded with a double promotion up to Division 1.

In the club's second season we achieved back to back titles, winning Division 1 and also reaching the semi-finals of the JA Kennedy Cup. We closed the campaign 5 points clear of second place, having scored an impressive 83 goals and gaining promotion to the MASFL Premier Division.

During the past 4 seasons we have consistently achieved high placed finishes in the MASFL Premier Division, as well as reaching the final of the John Old Cup in 13/14 and the final of the JA Kennedy Cup in the 15/16. On both occasions we were narrowly beaten by Hulme and Moss Side respectively.

The aim for the upcoming 16/17 campaign is for both the first and second teams to make a big impact in their first seasons in the ECSFL and hopefully to go one better than last year and win some silverware.

Following an amalgamation with Didsbury FC (formerly Burnage Metro FC), the first team will continue to play their home games in Didsbury village, enjoying the facilities at Didsbury Sports Ground. This is now the third season we have played here and we can now truly call it the home of our club. For this season, our second team will be playing their home games at Hough End Fields but will undoubtedly be coming back to the clubhouse at DSG for post-match pints with the first team!

As part of the expansion this year following the creation of the second team, we have added a record number of new faces and there is a real sense of anticipation for the season ahead. The lads have put some hard graft in over the summer and training will now resume at the excellent Platt Lane Complex facilities during the season.

Off the field, the club is now in the second year of a 3 year sponsorship deal with Urban Grille, a Didsbury restaurant and takeaway establishment who have also generously extended their support to our second team. This continues the tradition of AFC Didsbury joining forces with local businesses. We would like to thank them for their support towards the running costs of the club and look forward to strengthening this exciting partnership. We are sure they will make their money back several times over in the trade they will receive from the lads as the food is simply top notch :-)

We also continue to support the local community and have raised significant funds for local children’s charities such as Wood Street Mission and Francis House Children’s Hospice in recent seasons. Francis House will remain our official charity for the coming season in which we plan to organise a number of charity fundraisers including the now traditional Christmas bag pack and also aim to tackle the renowned 3 Peaks Challenge. In November, we will also be pledging our support to another charitable organisation (Booth Centre), as we take part in the Manchester Sleepout to help raise funds and highlight some of the hardships that homeless people have to face every single night.

As the club continues to expand, we are always on the lookout for new members who can help us improve as a club. Anyone wishing to get involved should send their details through to info@afcdidsbury.co.uk

For now, we look ahead to building on our recent success and ensuring that each player who pulls on the shirt enjoys their football and time with the club.
